We Brought Back Caldor.com — Now Let’s Build It Together

Hey you — yes, you over 30.
Remember the smell of soft pretzels in the snack bar? Bargain bins stacked to the ceiling? The orange shopping cart that had one janky wheel but got the job done?

Same. And we missed it.

That’s why we relaunched Caldor.com — not to cash in, but to bring a little New England magic back into the world, one retro product drop at a time.

🎯 Why Are We Doing This?

We’re not a corporation. We’re people who grew up in Connecticut and miss Caldor.

  • Because that red logo still lives rent-free in our minds
  • Because there’s something magical about a regional store that gave you everything you didn’t know you needed
  • Because nostalgia is powerful — and fun
  • And because no one else was doing it… so we figured, why not us?

🛒 What Are We Actually Doing?

We’re building this in public. It’s messy. It’s scrappy. It’s awesome.

  • ✅ Relaunched Caldor.com with early merch
  • 🧢 Dropping limited-edition shirts, mugs, and fun stuff inspired by the Caldor you remember
  • 🎨 Sourcing designs locally — New England artists, CT screenprinters, and good vibes
  • 💾 Bringing back that “remember when?” feeling — one product at a time

🧰 How Are We Doing This?

Our plan is simple: have fun, stay nostalgic, and keep you in the loop.

  • 📬 Weekly email updates (real ones, not spammy junk)
  • 📱 Instagram + TikTok (@caldorstore) — watch us fail, succeed, and do ridiculous throwback content
  • 📺 Pitching local news so your grandma sees us on TV
  • 💝 Starting to donate part of our profits to Connecticut community programs (because giving back is cool)

🗓️ The Plan (Yes, We Have One)

We’re sharing the calendar so you can build it with us.

MAY – Site’s live! First drop: vintage-style shirts + “snack bar” mugs
JUNE – Press outreach, more merch, and memory polls
JULY – Red Tag Sale throwback + weird 90s vibes
AUGUST – Back-to-school bundle and local school giveback
SEPTEMBER – Fall merch drop 🍂 and artist collab callout
OCTOBER – Spooky merch + maybe a pop-up?
NOVEMBER – Holiday gifts + toy memories
DECEMBER – “Caldor Christmas” drop 🎄 and year-end reflection

💬 How Can You Get Involved?

We want this to be your Caldor too.

  • 🧠 Tell us what to make next – Want a beach towel? A fanny pack? A jingle remix? We’re all ears.
  • 📸 Tag us in your old Caldor pics – Childhood outfits, parking lot memories, receipts from 1993. Let’s go.
  • 🎨 Are you a New England artist or maker? Let’s collab.
  • 🗞️ Know someone in local news? Help us spread the word.
  • 📧 Sign up for our Founders List at Caldor.com — early access, free stuff, and decision-making power

❤️ This Is For the Kids Who…

  • Got lost in the toy aisle while your mom looked at curtains
  • Remember when back-to-school shopping meant Trapper Keepers and windbreakers
  • Still hear the jingle in their head: “Where Shopping is Always a Pleasure”

We’re not trying to be Amazon. We’re trying to be your childhood, slightly upgraded.

So — what should we do next? Let’s build this together. One weird retro T-shirt at a time.

I’m 70 Caldor was my first real job. I met my Best friend there. We still talk about meeting there, and how we would ho out dancing. I learned a lot there
that helped me through out my life.

  2. Thanks, Ruth! This is exactly why we’re doing this. We’re glad we met you, and we hope to grow this project big enough to meet many more great friends along the way.
